Senator Allan Bird Memorial School
Senator Allan Bird Memorial School has 23 Teacher Units designed to offer comfortable and convenient housing for teaching staff. These units are located within close proximity to the school, allowing teachers easy access to classrooms, school facilities, and community amenities.
Each unit is well-maintained and provides a safe, supportive environment that helps staff focus on their professional responsibilities and personal well-being. They have fully fenced in yards and each unit has security cameras installed that are monitored 24/7. There is also 24/7 Security that helps keep our school and teacher units secure and safe.

School Security (Casuals)
LOCATION: Senator Allan Bird Memorial School
WAGE: Annual salary will be based on education, training, and experience

The Montreal Lake Cree Nation Education Department is now accepting applications to fill the position of the School Security at the Senator Allan Bird Memorial School. The role of the school security will be responsible to prevent theft and crime during and after school hours. They will protect the general welfare of students, faculty, and staff. The primary duty of a school security officer is to secure S.A.B.M.S and Teacher Units.
GENERAL DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT WILL NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Patrol the school grounds and areas around the school including unsupervised areas.
Intervene in activities that may result in injury and encourage students to not participate in such conduct.
Serve as a role model for students in behavior, attire, and professional grooming.
Help supervise arrival and dismissal of students as well as breakfast and lunch periods.
Help students to get to class on-time and ensure a smooth flow of traffic through the hallways.
Intercept visitors and check for proper identification and escort to exits if not authorized.
Notify police and emergency personnel when there is an emergency or unusual situation.
Notify the correct personnel when there is evidence of substance abuse, severe medical conditions, child abuse, potential suicide, alcohol abuse, etc.
Assist police, fire personnel, and other emergency crews when necessary.
Ability to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time in all weather conditions by day and by night.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor, or their designate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Sask. Security Guard Certification/License or have passed the 40-hour provincial security guard course will be considered, but not necessary.
Valid Driver’s License, but not necessary.
Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision using sound judgement and decision-making skills.
Must be reliable, punctual, have strong organizational, interpersonal communication and time management skills and the ability to concentrate efforts on priority projects.
Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
The ability to do heavy work is required in some assignments (ie; exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to lift and/or move objects).

Elementary Position – Grade 3
The Montreal Lake Cree Nation Education Department is now accepting applications for the following
teaching positions to begin in the Fall of the 2025-2026 Academic School Year at Senator Allan Bird
Memorial School.
GENERAL DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT WILL NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Carrying out responsibilities associated with a classroom or subject based teacher.
- General supervision of students during in-school and extra-curricular participation.
- Planning, preparing, and implementing an education program that includes engaging lessons, interactive learning activities/materials that aligns with the Woodland Cree worldview and connects with curriculum standards.
- Using a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual needs of students.
- Upholding the Nation’s Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics
- Engaging with parents, Elders and community members as required
- Establishing and maintain positive and trusting relationships with students
- Working with all staff to create an environment that respects students, Elders, parents, and community
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Education degree (required).
- Saskatchewan Professional A teaching certificate (required).
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- Ability to teach students of varying abilities.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Candidates with experience working with First Nations youth, and/or working in northern communities are encouraged to apply.

Kitchen Staff - Lunch Cook Assistant (Term position)
LOCATION: Senator Allan Bird Memorial School
ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: To Commence with Education & Experience
ROLE: Reports to Direct Supervisor Principal or designate, the Lunch Cook & Assistant are responsible for planning, preparing, and serving healthy and nutritious meals to students and staff in a safe, clean, and welcoming school kitchen environment.
GENERAL DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT WILL NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Develop weekly or monthly menus in consultation with school leadership and/or a nutritionist.
Ensure variety and cultural inclusion in meal offerings.
Maintain portion control and reduce food waste.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
Follow all food safety regulations and health codes (e.g., proper food handling, storage, temperature control).
Track food and kitchen supply inventory and place orders in a timely, cost-effective manner.
Receive and inspect deliveries to ensure quality and accuracy.
Store food and supplies according to food safety standards.
Coordinate with school staff regarding meal schedules, special events, or classroom needs.
Prepare food for school events, cultural days, or community feasts when required.
Prepare meals for Education Committee meetings.
Other Duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 Diploma or related Experience/Food Handling Certification.
- Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license. (Recommended)
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experience in planning, scheduling and Food-delivery orders.
- Must be able to problem solve and to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively to groups & individuals, supervisors, employees & the general public.
- Hours of work are 6:00am – 1:30pm.
- Heavy lifting of 50 lbs or more.

1 – School Maintenance Worker
School Maintenance Worker
LOCATION: Senator Allan Bird Memorial School
LENGTH: Full-Time
ROLE: Reporting to the Principal or designate, this position is responsible for the scheduled and unscheduled repair, maintenance and minor construction of interior and exterior of the school owned by the Senator Allan Bird Memorial School.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for competing general maintenance and repairs required for the school and teacher units from time to time. Cost estimating for repairs to also be completed.
- Follow up with Maintenance Requests and complete work orders.
- Responsible for any structural repairs, roofing, windows, doors, etc
- Responsible for snow removal, grass cutting and minor electrical repairs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular on-site working hours/Must be able to respond to Emergency requests after-hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be trainable to run the School Boiler System
- OHS/WHMIS training
- Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license (Preferred)
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experience in planning, scheduling and implementing work programs.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with School Staff.
- Must be able to problem solve and to work independently with minimal supervision.
