This is the Harold Johnson Land-Based Camp, presented by MLCN Sports & Recreation and MLCN Education. The four-day camp will take place from August 4–7 and is open to youth ages 13–16. Participants will enjoy an immersive land-based experience that combines outdoor adventure, traditional skills, cultural learning, and teamwork.
The camp begins on Tuesday, with departure from Montreal Lake Cree Nation at 2:00 PM, followed by camp setup, supper, and an evening campfire and sharing circle. On Wednesday (9:00 AM–10:00 PM), youth will enjoy breakfast, rock painting and crafts, canoeing to Molanosa to meet the Edmonton crew, small games, an evening barbecue, setting fishing nets, and a campfire. Thursday (8:00 AM–11:00 PM) includes checking fishing nets, preparing fish, tubing, a visit to Weyakwin, and another evening around the campfire. On Friday (9:00 AM–4:00 PM), participants will pack up camp, enjoy lunch, begin the return trip to Molanosa, and arrive back in Montreal Lake by 4:00 PM.
