Aboriginal Storytelling Month(February)

This is the S.A.B.M.S. (Senator Allan Bird Memorial School) Aboriginal Storytelling Month (February) announcement. It highlights a special Elders and Students activity hosted by the school library.

Students and Elders came together to share stories, enjoy food, and take part in engaging activities that celebrated culture, learning, and community connection.

SABMS Youth Conference

This is the S.A.B.M.S. (Senator Allan Bird Memorial School) Indigenous Youth Rising Conference trip announcement. It shares highlights from students who attended the Indigenous Youth Rising Conference in Edmonton on February 13–14.

Students were selected based on their performance in academics, attendance, and attitude, and traveled by charter bus to take part in the conference and activities. The trip included time at West Edmonton Mall, Galaxyland, conference sessions with inspiring Indigenous speakers, social activities like bingo, and recreational fun such as bowling, arcade games, axe throwing, go-karting, and swimming. The conference focused on motivating youth, celebrating culture, and showing students that achieving big dreams is within reach.

SABMS Anti-Bullying Day

This is Senator Allan Bird Memorial School celebrating Anti-Bullying Day. Students and staff gathered together in the gym wearing pink to show unity and stand up against bullying, creating a powerful visual display of support and kindness within the school community.

FREE Elders 65+ Bingo

This is the FREE Elders 65+ Bingo event sponsored by Senator Allan Bird Memorial School. Elders are invited to enjoy an afternoon of bingo with the chance to win door prizes in a fun and welcoming environment. The event will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the SABMS Gym. This special event is free to attend and is open to Elders aged 65 and over.

Senator Allan Bird Memorial School Casino Night

This is the Senator Allan Bird Memorial School Casino Night event, held during Report Card Day for High School Block 2. Families are invited to come in for their child’s report card and enjoy an evening of casino-style games, including Texas Hold ’Em, Numaki High Bingo, Black Jack, Slots, and Crown & Anchor. Attendees will receive $500 in play money to participate in the games. The event takes place on January 8, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Senator Allan Bird Memorial School. Door prizes, a canteen, and an auction will also be available.

Wellness Hub Montreal Lake Hockey, Sport & Wellness Camp

This is the Wellness Hub Montreal Lake Hockey, Sport and Wellness Camp held on December 29 and 30, 2025. The two-day camp brought together youth from the community for a mix of gym-based activities and on-ice hockey sessions. Each day began at Senator Allan Bird Memorial School, where participants were picked up, shared meals, and took part in inclusive sports activities suited for all ages and skill levels. The camp continued at the arena, where youth received equipment support, learned basic skating skills, practiced hockey drills, and participated in scrimmages, while others enjoyed volleyball and gym activities at the school. Over the two days, the camp reached up to 40 youth and provided a positive, active, and welcoming space to reconnect after the Christmas break. SABMS Christmas Elders Dinner 2025

This is the Senator Allan Bird Memorial School Christmas Elders Dinner announcement. Elders aged 65+ are invited to join us for a joyful evening filled with holiday cheer, laughter, and community spirit. The event will take place on Wednesday, December 17th, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Senator Allan Bird Memorial School Gym. Winter Basketball Camp at SABMS

This is the Winter Basketball Camp hosted by Hooplife and Montreal Lake. The camp runs from December 8–10 at Senator Allan Bird Memorial School and is open to youth ages 6 to 17. Participants will learn proper shot form, high-level scoring, dynamic dribbling, and defensive techniques. The day runs from 9:00am to 3:45pm, with a wellness workshop from 12:30pm to 1:00pm. National Addictions Awareness Week at SABMS

SABMS is proud to participate in National Addictions Awareness Week by encouraging creativity, reflection, and community involvement. Students and community members are invited to take part in three meaningful contests: a Poster Contest, a Poem Contest, and an Essay Contest. Entries will be accepted across Divisions 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as from the wider community. To recognize outstanding work, SABMS will award prizes in each division, with $300 for First Place, $200 for Second Place, and $100 for Third Place. This initiative aims to inspire learning, awareness, and positive conversations around addiction and well-being.
