Governance

Our Governance: Walking Together Through Community, Culture, and Leadership

Governance at Senator Allan Bird Memorial School is guided by a strong partnership of community leaders, Elders, and administrators. The Education Committee, led by Councilor Dean Henderson and supported by dedicated committee members, works alongside school leadership and Elders to ensure decisions reflect community values and priorities. With the direction of Principal Agnes Naytowhow, Vice Principal Treena Cook, and Director Diana McGillivary, the school is supported by the Superintendent and the Education Committee to provide a learning environment rooted in culture, accountability, and student success.

Welcome Back School Message From the Principal of SABMS

Welcome back!

I hope each of you had a restful and rejuvenating summer break. As we open the doors to a brand-new school year. I want to express how grateful I am to have such a dedicated, talented, and passionate team of educators and staff by my side.

This year our focus will be on fostering student engagement, equality and inclusion or innovative learning practices. Together, we will build on our successes, face new challenges with confidence, and continue creating a learning environment where every student thrives.

Over the coming days, we’ll reconnect, prepare our classrooms, and engage in professional development designed to support both our students and one another. I encourage you to take this time not only to plan but also to collaborate, share ideas, and reignite your passion for the work we do.

Your commitment makes this school a place where students feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn. Thank you for everything you do – your hard work and heart make a lasting difference.

Let’s make this year our best one yet!
